The LED is only allowing current to go one way as it's a diode.
A normal globe will allow the current to go back to the alternator to get the exciter going. You're managing to get it going with revs ... |

Almost certainly it will need calibration. Compare the numbers on the speedo face with your original.

SNT 6211/12S is a MPH speedo from a Triumph/MG (claimed). Maybe the 13S designation is for the KPH version.

PCD stands for Pitch Centre Diameter which means from stud to centre of Hub.

On a 4 stud, measure across opposite studs to get the PCD (pitch circle diameter).
I suspect the ute has had the early hub/brakes fitted which are 4.5" where as the Torana & later Minor are 4". ... |

The alternator exciter circuit needs a 12v feed for it to kick in. You'll find it will self excite if you give the engine a rev.
