Greetings Morrie Guru's,
Hoping to pick your brain. Have a 1000, when switch ignition on, fuel gauge goes up to empty by stays there despite a full tank. Occasionally it flickers eraticly between full and empty, but then stays on empty.
I was thinking of replacing the sender unit in the tank -any ideas?
Many thanks all. Very Happy

Unless you have a loose connection or a broken wire somewhere, then chances are it will be the sender unit.
They can develop open circuits with age.

You can test it with an ohmmeter while it's out of the car.
If you're lucky, you might be able to see a dirty patch where the contact has been skipping a section. Try to retension the contact if possible if that's the case.

recheck the earth and wire contacts at sender tank and back of dash reader

there was a MM sender on ebay

you could fit a universal fuel sender and guage

You could but why bother when 2nd hand guages & senders are everywhere.
An aftermarket guage is not going to fit in the Minor speedo anyway.
