Went to the hillclimb today and may have found a Future for "RUBY"
1 Lone MM was racing and there are some photos of her at the 3rd ute rebuild page.

The Toyota 5k he was running has a k3 head as the 1300 had bigger valves and therefore gave better fuel flow before and after it was fried.
Twin downdraft webbers and an extractor to be built.
Nice little set of Flares on the rear as well.

Nice work tony looking good do you think he will do mine when he is finished, you are taking the same road i wish to go down but everything is on hold at the moment, i have driven ruby with a fully worked 1500 and twin 40mm sidedraught dellortos around darlington racetrack and was as much fun as the ducati around the same track she would have a great future.

Well even with 2 years notice ...not going to make it...Brisbane by Easter , that is.
Motor is going back in on Tuesday and the Auto Electie is booked for Wednesday for the first looksee and where we can run all the Red + Black.
Read somewhere in the forum that the 5 speed celica box may have to change over the handbrake...Correct.. but a cutting wheel on the grinder and a few miniets work with the welder and the handbrake is now back futher by 50mm and is magic.slow bit is making the new tunnel section (1 handed) to fit the box.
So that be Feb-09 updated.

Well after 2 years and just missing the Nat's in Brisbane today the little beast did come together.
Yes after 12 hours of putting on the last few bits ,carby rad hoses new dizzy stuff and all that stuff with crossed fingers the key was turned and a little nob was pulled .
Bingo we have a runnung MM needed a bit of fiddling with the dizzy to get out the shake etc.so stoped her aquick fill with mobs of water into the heater unit and again a good start so off down the block and back.
The bloke helping took her for a run and a bit of more finr tuning and some more dizzy work and we had a puring kitten.
OH And the TEAR
2 min later ..

BLEW THE MOTOR TO BITS

Thanks for all the calls and messages.
I am going to Bali on the 28th back after the 9th june and I shall lift the bonnet again after that.
In the meantime she can stay in the shed and hang her head in shame.

PS is the nitrous in the red bottle or the yellow ?can never remember which one goes and which one puts out the fire.

HOLEY REDBACK
Back from Bali last week and today we did get back into the MM new pin in the cam $47 to get made.
Set it all up put it together and pulled the new starter button......tic...tic...tic.... A MM clock....tic.tic.tic..
went for a test run before we put it all together in case we needed to get into the motor again .
there are a few strange noises EG brakes bedding in and the fact that the front is so low now that the wheels rub the Flares so tomorrow we get her up in the air and count some splines.
only problem seems to be the webber may be tossing in to much fuel for a 4K 1300 she flooded a few times on the test run and blows some smoke from unburnt fuel on blipping her.
So please x ya fingers and we will see what tomorrow brings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PostPosted: Fri Jun 19, 2009 11:03 pm    Post subject: 3 thou Reply with quote

Here is friday night update (well this friday night)
The "Tin Lizzy" went like a shower 'o' shite !!!!!bloody nora I did not expect the get up and go to get up and gogo like it did .
Have no idea on top end speed as we need some bedding in yet ,,,But at 1/2 revs in 3rd on a 50k zone country road 100k was possible But being LAW Abiding I did not do it Embarassed
We have uped the angle of the dangle and she don't quite cut the grass as it did in the build mode (lawn grubs are still in danger though) so cornering is bloody fantastic and a 100mm ball could in therory get under her if it is good at puzzles.
NOW about the ...........3 thou ........
Thats 3 thousands of an inch clearence between the new alternator on a 4K motor and the raditor hose on a MM raditor not big enough if the motor has any small shakes.
So 3 gear changes and 1 start up and the fan on the Alt did mine it's way through the Rad hose this was OK as we had only gone down a country road and back and into the shed.
Note when you find that the hose is leaking on your MM rad and you can see that the problem may be the closeness to the Alt Fan ...DO NOT TRY TO BEND THE METEL PIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RAD OUT OF HARMS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!
This will lead to a trip to the raditor repair man to fix the said crack in the rad you haved formed.......
OK so I put the rad back in tomorrow..
This has now lead to the whole car being rebuilt in some way as the raditor was the only part not either rebuilt or replaced on this build.
GRAND PHOTO DISPLAY SATURDAY trust me i'm a doctor

Try a bit of stainless exhast pipe in the middle of your hose, I did same with F100, just requires a couple of extra clamps

Wheel align
Exhaust redone (too lourd)
Check speedo

The engin Bay

Some sign writting

Front on

Side on

Dash note the doornob under the wheel this is the new type Hi/Low dip switch

Rear shot yep early Ford brake lights and the blinkers are from a scooter large black section is Z channel from building site

Accross the bonnet Note the eyebrows that are on the headlights they are built in and are about 1/2 in thick ...no razors here. Lights are from a scooter made in Italy and are a copy of the MM type used
