my mates valiant has that type, although the pin is on the column and the latch is on the door.
i would say you could get that kit to work, you just need to get rid of all the original lock/opening mechanism, install the solenoid from the kit, run a cable from the interior door opener.
now the triky part. i am not entirely sure what the inside of the door mechanism looks/works like at the latch end. but i am guessing it is something allong the lines of: a spring is holding the 'bolt' out. you might be able to mod it, so the cables from the solenoid and the interior handle attach to the back of the bolt (to pull it in).
all you would need to do then, is make it so the outside handle is stationary and doesnt flap around so you can use it as a handle to open to door (how novel) or just take them off!
the door will act normally when pushed closed and when opened from the inside, just you will have to use a remote to pop the door open

it would be interesting to see if you could get the cable manually operating.. only problem is that it involves getting one of those kits and hoping! haha

haha i think the main thing would be overcoming the problem of how to hook it up so the bolt is attached to the door handle..

so the cable retainer thing is the cable for the wolf bolt lock?

what you would have is 2 cables, one from the solenoid, and one from the inner handle. both will attached to the back of the bolt (both will open it without effecting the other)
i will draw up a sketch at lunch if you wish

wow that looks awesome!
is the spring already in place with the door bolt?
i guess you'd have to weld the retainers in right?
looks like a sound approach!

i havnt looked that far into the workings of the door mechanism, but i would guess a spring is already there.
depending on how you feel is the best way, you might be able to rivet, screw or weld it on. i also havnt looked in a door for a while so i wouldn't be able to shed any more light

Are you talking about automatic opening or central locking. From the diagrams it looks like you are using the solinoid to open the door rather than to unlock the door.
Are you designing this from a 4 door lock or a 2 door one. They are completely different.

this would be an auto opening door,
i am not sure if it is a 2 door or a 4 door, as i said, i havnt looked into the inner workings of the door mechanism, nor have i looked into my doors for quite a while. i am just working on what 'should' work
