I thought it looked low but i wasn't sure of the tyre circumference. I thought maybe with the 15's they may be a bigger diameter and giving the illusion that it is sitting lower.

If it is low, that will be why its bumpy. Its probably not far from the bumpstops! It wouldn't hurt to drain the shocks and refil with new oil.

Sorting out that other issue wont take too much. Once they have the codes, they will know whats going on.

As long as its ready for next Easter Very Happy

Thanks Tad

Interesting to see what hp the minis are making, my 40ish hp, at the moment, would not have been too out of place on their list.

G'day

Some good news, I was told today that Morrx was on the dyno supposedly making about 100rwkws so the no revving problem has been fixed.
I will be in Vic. next week so will see for myself what is actually happening, and then I will know what is true.

Cheers

Graham, that is really good news. I bet you just cant wait to just get it back home, fill the tank up and just go for a long drive.

Good to hear its progressing. Sounds like its now going in the right direction.

Is there anything else to be done now?

G’day

There are two separate lots of things to finish, if you ever finish a car, the bits to have the rego changed for the new engine and things I want to do on the inside, which I can do later at home.
I am not sure exactly what is yet to do to finish the engine just a bit of tiding up and finalising a few small things I think then the engineer can do his mobile tests, brakes etc. which is him finished.
Then the Vic roads inspection and paper work, which seems remarkably strait forward and logical.
Then it can come home to get its NT rego.

Cheers

That is plan A.
But there has been a few plan A's since I started this.

A bit more progress it is booked in for its noise test tomorrow which it should pass easily as the exhaust is just about all mufflers.

The plan is to have a good drive on Monday which should be fun.

Cheers

G'day

Two things in Victoria to day the sun shone and I had my first real drive of Morrx, the first made the second even more enjoyable.
The picture is of Morrx visiting my parent’s house at Portarlington (about 30k from Geelong).
The car performed about as I thought/hoped it would. The engine/gearbox combo means the power is smooth and progressive no sudden surges as you accelerate. You want to go put your foot down; the box will change when you let up or go to 6000rpm, your choice.
To keep up with the traffic off the lights 3000 is enough for the first two gears that is changes at 30 and 60.
The brakes work really well, just like a modern car, strong progressive stopping with out any effort.
Generally a good first drive and the sun shone
.

Cheers

G’day

Geoffrey – not sure when the car will be home, the final engineering check was to have been Friday but my mechanic was crook so it has been postponed till Wednesday if all goes well I might be able to do the paperwork at Vic roads on next Friday. Then the first suitable truck heading North.
I had another couple of drives yesterday and today, I am still very happy with the performance and the easy way it drives. The biggest problem is keeping an eye on the speed as it will easily be faster than you want with little warning, much smoother and quieter than the 948, but the brakes are also a little better to pull it up.

G'day

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy I went for a drive today Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
The engineer has signed off on all the big things but finds new small things each time he sees it, a bit frustrating.
Anyway pleasant little drive today, basically the car dose what I hoped/expected it to do, it pulls smoothly with the engine getting stronger as the revs build. The auto is a three speed, 4th is an overdrive with a hold function on each gear therefore it can be left in auto or changed manually.
All good fun. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers

A couple of pictures I took yesterday.
Not sure what to do with the bit under the bumper, I am thinking of painting it a flat black or bark blue so that it will blend in with the shadow under the car and not be so obvious. Any ideas?

you could paint it black and make up a front spoiler thing like (but maybe not quite as big)

would do a good job of concealing it

Hi Graham,

If it was mine i would probably fit a front spoiler. I would also fit a plastic strip that will hang down under the grill as a warning that you are getting a bit close to gutter. Is it possible to shorten the radiator?

Cheers

G'day

Yes I have thought about a spoiler but that is not really the look I want for the car. At the moment it looks innocuous and non threatening which is the way I want it to stay; any spoiler I fitted would have to be deep enough to cover the radiators which changes the look of the car completely, much more threatening and tough. I thought about this one from JLH as it appealed to me more than others I have seen.

With one of these and the grill blacked out a different look altogether than I have now.

The lowest point at the front is the new front cross member we made up but yes I know what you are saying about ground clearance, speed bumps etc.

It looks good at present but I think I will have to lift the front up an inch or so and probably the back to match.
Cheers

I would do the opposite of a spoiler a nice rolled valance that is more convex not concave, would give you a more "genuine" look, sort of like a 76 escort valance
