I am trying to replace the rear axle oil seals, anyone know an easy way to remove the retaining nut on the diff, locked solid.

if your just replacing the axle seals you don't have to remove pinion nut, if you want to replace the pinion seal a rattle gun or a longer socket bar I think the nut is about 90ft/pnd

Rattle gun would be your first option. If you don't have one, beg/borrow/steal one.
You could make up a locking tool to hold the pinion flange if you have the time.
Sort of like this & long enough to reach the ground or something solid on the car:

I ran into this problem several years ago, after a couple of goes I took it to the local transmission place with a new seal in hand.
Picked it up a few hours later at a cost of $25.
