Probably been done before but I am wiring daytime running lights as per modern cars in my Ute project.
Here is how, I purchased at a good price two new headlights and found they had parking lamps installed so as my Ute has series five park/indicators fitted I am wiring these for DTRL . Wiring from a fused ignition point they will come on with start/running and to turn them off at night I am fitting a 5 pin N/C relay energised from the parking lights. Parking lights on will open relay N/O.
So on in daytime off when lights come on this way I will not have the LEDS daytime lights on with the headlights.
