Hi everyone. When replacing the copper/brass bushes in the Lucas starter motor, is the procedure still to soak them in oil before fitting? And if so, is this the only lubrication they get when reassembling? Thanks in advance

I have rebuilt quite a few starters and always give the bushes a bit of a soak in SAE 20 oil. Before assembly, wipe them out and put a very light smear of grease on the shaft.

Thankyou Bob. That is what I ended up doing. Nice to have clarification.
