Is the inner cable actually reaching the speedo drive OK (not falling short ?).
Maybe the cable or speedo are worn.....
Have you tried taking off the cable at the gearbox end, making sure the cable is pushed right in & giving the cable a spin ?

hi scott the drive end of the cable to the speedo reaches ok but the square drive on the end is smaller than the drive in the back of the speedo so i need to do something to make up the differance any ideas thank you

Is the speedo drive still square & not rounded ?
If it's OK, how about giving the cable end a clean in solvent to get rid of any grease, then building it up with araldite or similar. Once it's set, it can be filed down to suit the speedo.
It's the best I can think of on a Monday morning.
Years ago, I had a worn cable/speedo & I successfully cured it by using alfoil to take up the wear. I think the araldite method might be a better solution.

thank you scott. this must be a problem with some model as i did hear from a morry freak ones that you had to get a square brass tube from some ware to adapt the two together but cant remember were or who it was that said about it so i guess you idea sounds good . i had though of solder to build up the square drive but arildite sounds ok to me. thank you
