Red Van
New photos of our red van after the latest revamp. Now has an A14 motor with twin carbs, extractors, oval ported head etc. Power increase is amazing from the old A12. Interiors has new steering wheel with other modifications to the dash. Photos posted on photo gallery

Looks like a genuine GX, hard to find now, especially in a 1400, they fly, & surprise a few people when you pass them eh.

More of a lookalike than a genuine GX and you are right Trev it moves and you get some surprised looks.

Don't give him a bigger head than he already has Trev Very Happy .

Seriously though, Graeme's brought the car a long way since he bought it.
It's a credit to his dedication.

Red Van Some of the work I have done on the car would not have been accomplished without the help of people like Scott. Other people that need a mention are Stuart and Barry. Thanks

I'm interested in your remote brake reservoir, how is it connected?

It's the kit Barry Parsons (NSWMMCC) sells.
There's a tandem master cylinder under the floor & the remote reservoir is hooked up via rubber hoses.

Red Van Just another of Scott's poor attempt at humour.
The new brake setup makes a big difference to the feel of the brake pedal as it is not as hard. The master cylinder bolts into where the original master cylinder is in the chassis rail. A template is supplied for the positioning of holes to take the new cylinder and the hoses are suitable for dot 4 brake fluid. The new cylinder is a tight fit so it is a good idea to make sure that the chassis rail is completely clean inside. The brake reservoir can be mounted in any position considering ease of access for filling the reservoir. The other important feature is that it is a dual braking system that separates the front from the rear so if for example the rear gets air in the system it will not affect the front brakes. When changing the brakes and with the addition of a booster some engineers in NSW insist that a dual system is installed. Great value considering the results with the new unit.

just looked at Scotts link, it would appear that it is an early Renault 12 master cylinder, I have a brand new one on my parts shelf, just need the right angle plastic adapters and remote filler

I can tell you now, it's not a Renault part.
It's from a Japanese car, possibly Mazda. It looks deceiving because it doesn't have the reservoir on top that's normally there.

I did a similar conversion when I built Leslie's lilac sedan in 1998. Barry's kit is more refined than mine though Very Happy .

Red Van Can't tell you too much as it will put Barry out of business, but it is off a Ford. Fancy putting a Ford part in a Morrie, but it evens it up with the Torana discs and shocks.

I went home at lunch and checked my master cylinder and got part number off it, it matches up to part number in a manual from an early 70's ford 4cyl, (not saying as if I am right I don't want to do the wrong thing by Barry) they both use brake systems from a famous english company, the renault upgrade in 72 to a different model with dual reservoir, I will try mine on the weekend in one of my parts cars to see if I'm right

I have one of barrys units unfortunately not yet fitted. I have seen these cylinders before one on little special van here (advertises Macdonalds) also seen them on fork lifts. They are aussie made and not off any particular car .
Barrys design of parts the go with the unit are made well and it is GOOD value. Yellow Sedan Yellow Ute Very Happy Shocked Eye Rolls

I tried my renault cylinder on the weekend I'm sure it would work with some stuffing around making brackets etc also would need the right angle fittings, the lines seemed to line up ok and threads were the same

Red Van The intricate part is the bracket that has to support the master cylinder in the correct position. Good luck
