more questions (starting to Rewire Winston )

how is the ignition held in place
it doesnt have a locking nut ?

Wont it just turn in the dash as you use the key?

Windscreen washer
where does everyone put the bottle ,dash switch and bonnet nozel
if they fit one .

For rego and road safety for a series ll

are semiphores still allowed to be fitted ?

If I used sealed beams for headlights

Can the small round light on the front be used as a parker light and a blinker
my lenses are clear

If so do you use a orange bulb
If not do you have to add an orange blinker

The ignition switch has a small "L" shaped bracket which bolts to the underside of the dash. It connects to the switch through the two holes in the outer "wings" of the switch. ( If you get stuck, I've got a spare here)

I've hung my washer bag in the engine bay on the front left inner guard, a bottle would fit there just as well. I've seen them on the firewall up on the LHS as well. The nozzle will be on the rear center of the bonnet, and the switch is on my instrument panel in the driver's glovebox. (A better place for a push switch might be under the wiper switch on the horizontal panel, pointing downwards...)

As for semaphores, I'm not sure what the specific rule is, however generally it's "if the car came standard with them, then they're ok to use" - but don't take my word for it!

Indicators/parkers - I'll be using amber beehive Lucas lenses in place of the original parkers, with parkers in the headlamps. I think it looks neater that way. Many people add secondary blinkers, my car had them when I got it.

it is quite legal in qld to have clear blinkers, many cars came out that way, vh valiants, early70's falcons and holdens

found an L bracket ... didnt know where it went
I think its the one

I will use a push button switch for the wiper motor washer

got room on the Lhs firwall to make a bracket for a waterbottle and motor

headlight floor dipper switch will take some getting used to again

I have painted my front parker globes with yellow glass paint " From Spotlight" then put white glasses back on. I then fitted headlights with parker globes inside, quite cheap and available .
Rear indicators I have small rectangle lamps under bumper on a 75mm (3 inch) door hinge.
I fold them up if showing the car.Using original indicator arm with flasher under dash. Yellow Sedan Red Convertible Blue Convertible
Does this help

I believe that a second fusebox with an ignition controlled supply would need to be supplied through a relay to prevent overloading the ignition switch. Is that right? (monster taco - now I'm hungry...! Very Happy )

G'day Ray,
I've had two vehicles go through Qld Main Roads with clear and combined parkers and indicators - both Minis, one last year. Very Happy Personally, I rather like the look of clear indicators under the old beehives - particularly if they are on a darker coloured car. I think it looks good with the contrast against the dark body colour. My Minis were Cherry Red and now Tahiti (dark) Blue, so it works well for them. Not so sure I'd do it to my Minor, but that's because (a) it already has big, square, separate (I think aftermarket) indicators on the front (which I'd like to change), and (b) it's currently Roseberry Cream in colour, too light for clear indicators to be to my liking. Not enough contrast to the body colour.
I don't like to disagree with Mr Ballard (he knows much more than me!), but I wouldn't paint the parkers - I figure that we need all the visibility we can get! Better off buying orange bulbs if you're that way inclined, or get a headlight setup with the parkers in the main light arrangements. You can get H4 bulb arrangements like that for reasonable money...

I will consider all the options

I want to be seen when I turn

so I will go orange some how

if one does put years of work into a car
the last thing needed is an accident
