Hi All!

My trafficators were bogged in some time in the distant past, I guess at the same time the indicators were fitted. The paint is now cracking around the bogged patch, and I'm thinking about redoing it, or retrofitting the trafficators back in.

A thought though - I don't suppose the trafficators are still in there? They just bogged over the top of them? As trafficators are soooo expensive Eye Rolls , wouldn't that be a lovely surprise! Very Happy

Anyone had any experience with this? Did they take them out and fill in the whole cavity, or just chuck some sort of covering straight over the top?

I've seen a lot that have cracked where they were roughly bogged up. If you can remove the bog without damaging the surrounding paint, you should be able to re-fit trafficators without much trouble.

It's also easy enough to make up blanking plates to cover the hole if you decide not to fit them.

If your mog is a four-door, you can easilly see what's inside the B pillar by removing the interior trim. There should be two little screws in the centre of the trim panel.

yea i just picked up two later type ones for around the same (unknown condition sort of deal)
The earlier ones are somewhat rarer it seems.

or maybe over here people like paying alot more for them Eye Rolls easy to rebuild none the less - if everything is there chances are they just want a clean and oil - in my case the coils were shorting due to 50 odd years of sun and rain taking off the wire coating

Hi Tortron,
Is there any chance of penning a "HOW TO" guide
for reconditioning the trafficators?

I am yet to refit mine, but a service before
hand would be great, as some I have seen
get a little lazy over the years.

yup im in the process of making one up

I have plenty of after photos - but got carried away and didnt take any before Embarassed

I have just recieved some of the later style minor trafficators so will write up one for them (i dont think that there is really that much difference other than the lighting circuit having a sliding contact)

After recoiling mine they certainly are not lazy! I set up one of the solenoids and pistons to test the strength and i couldnt get it to budge when on Shocked

Not completely sure on the parts of a trafficator. AFAIK its just the solenoid, arm and light for each side?

Most of the UK companies have brand new repro units you can buy.
