Hi Grant

That looks like a fantastic project! Looks like the most the hard work has been done.

Hope it turns up soon so you can get started.

Cheers

G'day Grant

Interesting project, you have told us what has been done but what are you planning to do to it?
Pardon my ignorance but what is a T2 1600 out of?
What power are you expecting?

Good luck with what ever you are planning.

Cheers
Graham

Thanks Graham for the questions, to start a 2T is a twin cam 1600 toyota engine, they were used in a formula 2 series in the 70s and 80s. They were a Hemi engine and produced 200hp in race form. Well what are my plans, basically this is what I was doing with my existing project so I have a heap of ideas and parts already. Because it is alot further forward body wise than my existing project is why I purchased it. I have 4AGE and 5 speed, celica gt4 seats, toyota power rack if I can mate it to the mazda gear, or maybe I will find a mazda power rack. I have a few ideas for bonnet and boot hinges and electric openers already fabricated so I will see if I can fit them in to the project. I also have all the bits for a convertible roof, but would like to electrify the process. I am also trimming the interior in leather, having a mate at work who is an upholsterer will help. Depending on work load I would love to take it to the next nationals.

Well I still don't have the car, but have been talking to the missus about "cool features" she wants. Looks like I am going to program up plc with touchscreen to run everything, (does anybody know of a small 12v plc with up to 24 analogue and digital i/o, I have only worked with allen bradley and seimens) lights, a/c, music etc. There will be hidden mechanical overides/switches for essentials. I was also talking to mate about hydraulic rams to run the convertible top, there is some really cool miniature stuff out there at the moment and while the dollar is strong I might start playing with a few ideas. I have some other ideas but don't want to spoil all the surprises.

Woo Hoo !!! The car is in my shed photos to follow !!! What I do know now is the body is superbly crafted, the attention to detail is fantastic. Brake booster and master cylinder are diahatsu charade. Seats are festiva, including backs which are frame only. Fuel tank is Barina. Boot is without handle(smoothed) and as yet I don't know how to open it, and boot is stuffed with goodies, Yes the back seats fold down but the crates in the boot are so full I can't get them through the opening. Ok off to play more I will post photos on the weekend

Grant it looks like a torana front suspension & xmember. I'd be interested in more detailed photos & details on how it's been attached

I've done some rough measuring this afternoon, seems the body has been channeled at least 50mm ie the floor has been removed and the body lowered 50mm over the chassis when the new floor went in. As a comparison my lowered stock ute is 250mm ground to bottom of floor pan below the drivers door on the same spot mazzy is 200mm. Also the engine is 100mm longer than the 4age so there is some extra room for cooling, I have a crossflow aluminium radiator which is 30mm thick, which replaces the morry 60-70mm unit. A mate is already keen to buy the 2t to put in his rally car which is good news. There are a few issues the efi tank doesn't fit, it was going under the back seat in my other project back as the floor is different I will have to search for something new. I will try and jack it up tomorrow and get under it and take some photos

Unfortunately I had to work today had a Quality Assurance audit, and got a corrective action request Embarassed lack of documentation regarding staff training, I will spend tomorrow in the shed, although I have 30th & 40th bday parties to attend tonight, so I might be a bit seedy tomorrow, but intend to get it up on jacks and sus out under the car

That's better

But there's a lack of documentation accompanying these photos consider this a corrective action request.

One other thing

HOW IS THE HEAD?

For whatever reason imageshack links weren't working correctly so I could only put up the thumbnail links, I will attempt to rectify this tomorrow and add a commentary to the photos. The head was fine although I slept in till 9am, drank lots of water before bed.

I measured up the engine bay this afternoon 710mm deep x 950mm wide, chassis rails 500mm apart with firewall over 800mm deep at the transmission tunnel. This will give me ample room for the 4AGE. One hitch the aluminum radiator I was going to use hits the chassis rails, I will go trolling the wreckers sometime to find a suitable doner. I also had a brand new celica radiator but it is too high perfect width though.

On another note I tried to find someone who would make a onepiece screen for me. I rang several specialist windscreen companies all who needed a min 100mm bend radius. One very large manufacturer told me to make it from perspex, I asked if that was legal he said no but put the right stickers on it and no one will know. (no thankyou) I have not given up as a local glazier makes bent glass for showers etc I will talk to the boss there as he is in the local hotrod club

At this stage Jen has chosen candy apple red for the colour, although being a woman this could change before we paint

Have chosen and ordered the tail lights and headlights, going to give the little orange indicators the flick as well

The vehicle in question was qld blue plated in 1992 from a two seats to 5 seats owner modification code was lk. In qld code of practice there is a section lk which is additional seating, there is also a section LH which covers conversion to cabriolet or panel van to ute. Alot I assume is up to the discretion of the engineer. But that is Qld don't know about NSW

I worked out using a AE93 corolla wiper motor with the series 2 wipers tonight, I need to make up some proper mounting plates, and mount to check my sweep calculations are correct, but at this stage all looks good, this is a 3 speed motor, int, low, high. Once I have made up the mounting plates I will post some piccys, but I may keep some of the details secret till next nationals who knows.
