Does any one know the size and thread in the block for fitting an oil guage? I was hoping to fit an electric one. Have had a look in some shops but they need the size and thread before they can help me. They had one that screwed into the block and a wire attached to it which went to a pressure guage.

I would also like to fit a temp guage. Any ideas on that score as well?
Thanks folks. Embarassed Red Sedan

there is a gadget from brisbane for engine temps at http://enginewatchdog.com/
it actually measures the temp of the head metal not the water or lack thereof and if it goes too high there is a buzzer
for an oil gauge if you dont already have one as yet on ebay is a bloke called "veethree11" has gauges that are great (i have a voltmeter) and for the price fairly good value

Dazle, you should have an sender /switch in the block just to the rear of the distributor which operates the OP warning light. If you want to replace this with a gauge take it out and take it with you when you go shopping. or Bursons Repco etc have brass T adaptors so you can have the warning light and the gauge.
For the temp gauge I fitted mine to the threaded hole just below the thermostat housing on the distributor side. So long ago can't remember what was in the hole. probably a brass plug. this will read the temp in the head.
Any decent gauge should come with adaptors but the thread will be BSP. cheers JohnG
