Well today I decided to change out my alternator, I had bought a chinese mini one, well it was crap since the day i fitted it, worse problem was it was out of balance, it was so bad it sounded like the tappets were out of adjustment. Anyhow a dig through the crap on my shelves I found a 83 charade one i had for another project on an engine I'm not using anymore. It took about 20mins to fit and was a straight bolt on to the original generator mounts

This is the part number, its a G11 3cyl charade

I bolted the charade mount/slide to the morry mount

And here is the alternator, it is tiny about 100mm square and has a builtin regulator

I used the same fan belt as was on the car can get the # if anyone is interested

Well I had to replace the 2nd hand alternator with a new one this weekend so a few more tips for mounting this setup up, all in all took me 20mins. The mount on the alternator that bolts to the engine radius needs grinding down about 1-2 mm so that it adjusts easily and doesn't hit the block. The other mount needs the front face grinding flat to the main casting so the fan belt runs true, also I welded a 2nd curved adjuster to the original bracket to lengthen it for easy adjustment, you could use the original but will need a smaller fan belt

Wow, I get trade but I didn't think it was that much of a discount, mine was around just under $200 in November /December, but I'm sure you can get one from wreckers for under $50
