If Scott reads this he might be able to tell us if there is any further talk about the "Modified Historic" plate scheme.
Thanks Bob, there's no further news on the new modified plate scheme other than it's supposed to be close to being finalised. From what I've heard, the hold up is getting the Green Slip insurance side of things sorted out.
It does appear to have an official name now: The Classic Vehicle Log Book Trial
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roads/registration/get-nsw-registration/historic-vehicles/log-book-trial.html
so hopefully it'll be alive sooner rather than later.

Until recently, the RMS allowed a 15% engine capacity increase before an engineer certificate was required but this has been increased to 20%.
This now means that the common fitment of a 948cc engine into a Series II is now legal & seeing as it was quite a common 'period' modification, the NSW Morris Minor club has relaxed it's Club Plate rules.
We also allow the next size up A series engine to the later cars too (948 to 1098, 1098 to 1275) so John's Morry would now be eligible for Club Plates if he chose to go that way.
