Well done, another Ute, go Corolla or Datsun for power, cheap, reliable, quick enough for every day use.
A 1275 with a 5 speed will also work as a good every day Ute.

Take lots of photos and post them up for us all to see

Bruce

Hi Nevstoy

welcome to the Forum

If you end up modifying the ute I have a customer that is after a original bench seat.

If you don't need it, let me know and I can put you in touch with him

cheers

Darren

Hi and welcome.
I have a ute I am rebuilding myself. I will be fitting the engine that I had built for my car 998cc ( 100thou bore) Twin Su,s and a unleaded head with larger valves.
It will have sufficient power for my use.
My car has just be refitted with its new 1098cc motor ( plus 60 ) with a Cooper S head twin Su,s reground cam etc. I am very pleased with the results. Yellow Sedan Blue Ute

Hi Neville, welcome to the forum.

Looks like you've got a good one to start with, but don't be disheartened if you find some rust that will need fixing - they are, after all, over 50 years old Shocked
Plenty of info here - just ask and you will receive Very Happy

.... Utes and Vans are Male

Get yourself a workshop manual ( give me a PM and I will send you a link to download a copy) and take up Robbo's offer to go and have a squiz at his fleet.

Remember that there are still a few cowboys out there that 'sell' parts so I would suggest that you ask around before you part with your $'s.

Plenty of options out there regarding engine changes etc so it would be a good idea to look at as many as possible before you formulate a plan of attack.

cheers

Awesome, another ute to the ranks
I like the old A-series but like Bruce said, you can't beat a Datsun or Toyota for hp/$. I have a Datsun 1400 and auto in mine but I'd go with the Toyota next time for sure... purely for the extra torque. The conversions as easy as they come. If you're just going to be driving it around as a daily, an A series might be fine.. but if your going to be carrying anything I'd go for some more grunt.

G'day

What to do with the Ute all depends on how much you can do yourself , how much you want to spend and what your vision is for it.
Everyone has their own vision of what a Morry should be, mine involves a Mazda 13B rotary but for a Ute I would look at a small V6, Suzuki Vitara perhaps or one of the newer small diesels something different.

Cheers

Hi Frosty the trailer is custom made to fit most old vintage cars the front tailgate and rear folds down to become a normal trailer,

Hi all just a little update. After stripping it down i found out that it had been in a smash in the past and the front chassis rails are bent so have to replace them

Interesting photo Nev

From the look of the pic it appears as if it has had a prang from the RH side but the bumper iron on that side looks OK ??

Has the front part of the chassis rail appear to have been repaired or replaced before?

cheers
