My Temperature gauge has stopped working. i have pulled it out & found a wire broken. Whether I did it or it was already broken I do not know. I put it in boiling water but still did not work. I think the gauge is buggered. Could this be right.

If it is an electric one could be the senser in the head. Not expensive to get a good one repaired.
Sould have two connections one is power in the other wire to the sensor

It is not an electric one. Just the sensor in the head back to the gauge. It was at the back of the gauge the wire was broken from the sensor.

If it is not an electric it has a capillary tube that takes the temperature to the gauge . It it has a leak the gas comes out of the tube, don’t think that can be fixed.
The wire would be for the light in gauge

It is a copper wire. The light wires are off the back where the gauge fits in the car.

Ok bit confused here if it only has a wire it is electric. Perhaps this “ copper” wire is actually a tube , does it have a plastic cover over the copper
