Hi Guys
I have just learnt how to post pictures so here goes.
The first of these two was purchased about 1996. ( EDIT: actually NOV 1994)
A 1950 MM Tourer - 78041
It was a complete wreck. I paid $1500 for it,
Way too much very rusty but complete,
and has much work carried out.
It was displayed in 1998 as a work
under progress at the 1998 Brisbane Motor Show,
but has not progressed since!

As Purchased

During rebuild

1998 Brisbane Motor Show

As She stands today,
Not much work carried out but I have
been collecting bits and pieces along the way.
I have a set of twin carbies for it.
Maybe the 2009 Nationals???

The other is my 1960 MM1000, originaly Silver
Pine Green II. Bought about 1998,
It had a 1200cc Nissan and Auto. It looked
pretty good and I thought just a quick tidy up,
but the more I looked the more I found that
needed doing, so like the Tourer it required
a total strip down and rebuild.

After the rebuild I drove it with the
Auto for a few years then dropped
an A15 with a 4 speed. There are
many deviations from Standard on
this car, but I like to keep it original in looks.

As bought

A recent photo

An even more recent photo Oct 2007

And the rear end from Nov 2007

I'm not really that clever and I would really
like to thank a great mate of mine,
John Wright for his invaluable assistance
in putting these cars together.

There is alot more of a story, like verybody
elses Morries, to go with these pictures but
I won't bore you with the details.
Oli

Thanks guys, Your comments have boosted me.

Re the Grass, That was about 6 months ago.

Today more like the colour of green tinged rust.

Here's some updates from the 2007 Display Day.
The car has had the paint work touched
up and a bit of elbow grease with a cut,
polish and wax, plus has a metal external
sun visor, and I've almost finished the new dashboard.

Looking good Oli! I love the dash... There's just something so right about Smiths gauges, especially all nicely polished and not faded. Just fantastic! Very Happy

Oli,

Do you have any more photos of your custom dashboard? I also like the Smiths gear and I've managed to collect 7 gauges that I'm in the process of restoring. (tacho, volts, amps, vacuum, temp, oil pressure, clock).

I'm looking around at inspiration photos from other's vehicles. Not everyone posts photos of their dashes though! Very Happy

Cheers,

Drew.

loverly morrie oli, should be very proud of it , love when people do up cars that leave the car standard outside and do all the mods underneath or inside, leaving it still looking like a morrie cant wait to see the lowlite when finished

I have just realised I have not posted any photos of my finished dash board. So here it is :

The materials used span all the different Minor Models.
The centre piece is a combination of Series MM/Series II and 1098, the Speedo and switches are from a 1000, and the glove box lids are from a 1098 UK Morrie.

I really still want change the timber panel under the dash, but I don't think I will get the time Befor ethe Nationals, due to work being done on my Tourer.

Hi Oli,

Is that speedo from a later 1000? Its 90 MPH and also has Km/h markings as well.

Cheers, Paul

Yes that is right.

I also used to run a KP/H only Speedo, which I still have.

I think it needs a service as it was making some "Grumbling" noises.

Very Happy Very Happy Blue Sedan Hi Oli, love your work, your cars look fantastic.
I have the same speedo as yours and was wondering which fuel tank sender to use with that as my car is a standard 59 2 door Morry, any information will help me. Thanks William Ballard Eye Rolls Blue Convertible

Pull the fuel gauge from the speedo, remove front face by drilling out rivets and replace the mechanism with the original one, the new one is capacitance and the old one is resistance type, I did this with mine. Contact me if you want to know how to calibrate it

Are you on dial up?
If so they are just taking a while to load.

If you left click and pick "show picture" then that will load them.

Sometimes you will get the red X if the host server (where the pics are located) is having a problem OR the pics have been removed from that site and are no longer available

PS
All the above pics are showing for me

cheers

You'll be blocked from accessing the host site from work. I have the same problem.

Thank you Scott

It could well be, but it's strange though that some display and others don't?

Cheers

The photos that are hosted on this site (from the Gallery area) will show.
Other that are hosted outside (like Imageshack or Photobucket) won't.

Well it has beena while but I have been slaving away in the shed, at a slower rate than I really would like but things are progressing, if not slowly. (That's how it has been for 15 plus tears)

I have put a set of rear spats on the tourer

Fitted the windscreen

Sourced new body Rubbers, Boot and Bonnet Hinges, hub caps & carpets.
I am also half way through refurbing the brakes.

Whats left......
Finish off the interior
Finish off the electricals
Get a set of exhaust extractors and muffler made up.
The engine was rebuilt about 15years ago and only clocked up about 1000klm so hopefully it is OK, but when I turn it over by hand, it leaves a puddle.
I need a hood made and side screens.

I think that is it, but who knows...?

PORT MACQUARIE..........???????????

Hi Oliver. You should be so proud of yourself. That looks really good. You have obviously taken a lot of care with this. Ive got to tell you though, I would have lost interest by now.

Congratulations on the excellent job and hope to see it at Port.

Looking forward to catching up with you also. Very Happy

It would be great to see that car "in the tin" at Port Macquarie.

You've done a fantastic job. Both your cars look wonderful.

Seeing the before shot of the tourer, most people could see that one going to the crusher.

People like you should be applauded (even given a trophy) Very Happy

Sorry couldn't resist that.
