I note the word " Carbies" in your other post so I am presumong twin SU's
These run well when adjusted properly.
First dissconnect all linkages and start, if it is idling that fast it is getting fuel through the carbies.
Second if you do not have one get a Carb Balance ( Gunson make one)
you cannot match carbies without one
I match my carbies on the bench before fitting. Yellow Sedan Red Ute

what john has said
from when i had a Triumph sedan there are actually (well in my mind at least) 3 steps to the whole thing,
1 set up the carbs with relation to mixture, similarity to each other (that's springs, amount of dash-pot oil etc)
2 tune each carb mixture to the motor
3 balance
i was able to do my Triumph with 2 ordinary and cheap vacuum gauges as there was a vacuum takeoff on each carb.
if you have the manual for the marina they explain it fairly well in that, oops just thought its only in the all blue one not the blue and white one

The trials and tribulations are still continueing with the Tourer.

However my Green Sedan has been feeling a bit neglected
of late with all this low light talk.

So I have decided to post a few photos of the sedan.

I spent some elbow grease on it today and she polished up very well!

This is my 1960 Datsun Powered 2 door.
It has uprated brakes and suspension and
many other items to make it a nice cruiser.

I will be fitting it with a high ratio diff center soon (hopefully)

I totally restored it with the help of a few friends and I have owned
it for about 15 years, I think the paint is holding up pretty good.

The interior now needs a little TLC and hopefully it should get it
once the heat is off my Tourer project.

I think I need to repaint the wheels and grill, they are looking a bit tired.

Back to the Tourer, you may have been following a thread about
getting my side valve running. Well I am very happy to say Neville and I
sorted it out & I went for my first drive today!

I still need to get the exhaust correctly fitted.
But so far so good

G'day

Looks good, it must give you a great sense of pride and achievement to finally be driving it, especially when you think of how far it has come from when you got it.
Very well done.
Now for that rotary you have always wanted.

Cheers
Graham

thank you all for the encoutragement.

It drove pretty well, but I am still getting used to driving side valve speed.

It starts right up easy, idles well and all the brakes etc, seems to be working very well.

But I keep forgetting that it does not have self cancelling blinkers!
I might get some kind of buzzer I think.

There is an exhaust system but I need to get a proffesional to just make a few adjustments. then of for rego,
fingers crossed, Australia Day?

And Graham did you mean an engine swap with a rotary in the Tourer?
And John Yes we tuned the carbs, my kit arrived a few days ago, thanks again.

I just hope that after a shake down period nothing breaks or falls off.

Thanks again guys.

No Ollie as your next project, a 12A in a ute or van wasn't it..
I would be keeping the tourer stock with maybe some period mods as you have done, maybe a super charger I believe that was done way back then.
Once again very well done.

Cheers

The RAIN has postponed TWO THINGS.

Firstly: I was not game to see if the Tourer was water proof,
so on Wednesday, I chickened out of getting it registered. But
I will do it the first fine 2-3 hours we get, after Australia tady. (Today)

And Secondly: The Australia Day Festivities at Ormiston has be
delayed and will now take place on 12th Feb, hopefully if Dry.

I am Pretty Sure me and the Tourer will be there!

Yippeee!!!!!!!!!!
After only 17 years and 3 months my Tourer is registered!

It's finally happened!

The old Tourer is registered.

After so many years of work on and off, More off then On,
my Tourer is now registered.

On the way back home I did have problem with the brakes binding up,

I could not drive in 4th gear and even 3rd was a struggle, and when I made it home and stopped to open the gates, smoke was eminating from my wheels!

A good friend of mine suggested a few things but he thought the main cause could be
the adjustment rod into the master cylinder was too long and not allowing the fluid back
into the reseviour. So I adjusted it shorter, and by Gearge he was right!
Good on you Neville! (AGAIN!)
I had visions of stripped down brakes and wheel cylinders being relined etc etc .

It feels better each time I drive it.

Look out (Postponed) Australia Day Show!

Well done Oliver - what a credit to you. My boys and I have decided to make sure we are at the Aussie Day display just to see the tourer. We've been following the progress.

It looks awesome and really who needs breaks?
Very Happy

regards
Tony

Thanks Binda and Carle.

Binda, please make sure you find me and introduce yourselves.

I am so ahppy now I can just drive it, with the wind in my hair,
but I must say there a few less hairs than when I started 17 years ago.
