I have taken a couple more photo's.
Eventhought it looks like not much has happened,
I have got 4 new hucaps, New Chrome hinges Bonnet and Boot, new Bot mascot, new boot rubber, new carpets which will be
installed after the brakes have been finished, New Grease hub caps,
New brake linings all around + machined drums, two rear shockies
and links and rubbers installed, new wheel bearings and seals front
and back, brake master cylinder installed and new return spring,
(what a bugger to get that hooked in!), reco-ed fuel pump fitted, two new handbrake cables.
Whats left to do:
Get/Fit new door Rubbers.
Finish connecting up the brake lines and hope like hell that
the honed brake cylinders don't leak.
(Can't really afford to get them resleeved.....!)
Get a set of Headers & Exhaust sytem made.
Install the interior I already have.
Get a mobile auto electrician to finish off all the hard bits I could not do.
Swap to Negative earth polarity.
Hope that the engine that was reconditioned 10 years ago
and not run much is OK. (there are a few leaks from the rear
when turned over by hand)
Run the fuel line from tank to engine bay.
Finish wireing up the electrics.
I think the pinion seal on the diff is leaking.
And most costly of all get a New Hood and accesories made.
Sounds easy eh?
The only deviation from a standard car is/will be:
Twin Monaro Carurettors
Exhaust Headers/Extractors
Electronic ignition
Electric Temperature Gauge
Electric Radiator fan
Klaxton Horn
Wheel spats
I have tried to hide as much of the above
as possible so it cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Well I think it has taken about 15 years so far , so maybe
it should take shorter than another 15 years more to finish!

Have to say Oli, that looks absolutely the Dogs doodahhs.
Congrats mate not only for producing something just fantastic but the great inspiration to all who are going through the Mill or struggling to keep going because of one reason or another.
Great mate and we know you don't need any of us to say that-quality always shines.

Thanks everyone for the support, you don't know how much the kind words spur me on.
It has been a VERY long road for me and my beloved Morries,
but I do get discouraged when I run out of time or money or
enthusieasm for my projects.
I have been offered many times to sell the Tourer as is,
but I figure, I would just merely spend the money on
the mere nessesities of life, food, bills etc. So I decided to
keep it and finish it, no matter how long it takes.
Thanks again everyone!

hi oliver.
great looking morrie there. it may have taken you a notable time but quality is something that is worth every minute and cent dedicated to the project. that has to be one of the sweetest chariots ive seen. stick with it till the end you deserve the day out in the car and all the emotions that will come along for the ride. hope you can make it to the nats with her as you 2 will be one of the focal points of the event im sure. congrats once again on a purely wonderful resto as even the colour is perfect for a wee morrie.
cheers ian.

Spot on comments all round! Brilliant work!
Those mods sound just the treat to give the wee side-valve a little more grunt! Excellent stuff.

A "little" more progress.....
The master cylinder I put in a few weeks ago was a DUD!
I opted for a new one, I put it in a couple of weeks ago
but could not bleed them till today. My mate Neville came
over and we bleed them.
SUCCSESS! So far the slave cylinders are holding and no leaks,
but I will check for puddles in the morning.
A very firm pedal is what we have got and I am very happy.
Bouyed on by my happiness and the list of other jobs I now
want to accomplish, the boss, read my lovely wife, has also
said I can have some time tomorrow (if the weather is fine)
to Fish Oil the doors and down the chassis legs and all the nookes
and crannies. I will need to do this on the grass as not to make a
mess on the garage floor.
Then, I can repaint the foor in an anti rust paint, then I can
install the gearbox cover, lay the underfelt then the carpet
and then bolt down the seats.
It may even start to look like a semi-complete car in the
next couple of weeks!
BUT I still need to attent to the exhaust, electrics and a new hood.
However the TO DO list IS getting shorter!

Latest Update,
The brakes seem to be working fine now, just a few weeps that I have nipped up today, but I really can't tell untill it is mobile, but the pedal is very good.
1) Fish Oiled
2) Carpet is in
3) Seats are in
4) Sill covers fitted
5) I started to insall the door cards, I'm not happy with them.
I made about 10 years ago, so they may come back out.
6) I made a new parcel shelf
7) I tried to refurbish the steering wheel. Not as easy as it looks.
I need to have another go.
Just needs some electrical work, Exhaust headers and system, New hood & cover etc, and just some fiddly bits to finish. that list is getting VERY short now.

looking great Oliver
the bearing on your colum looks open is there a cover that goes over it to keep grease etc off your legs? ive not paid much attention to that area before. our 1000 has an outer tube but ive never looked below the bearing too see how its kept clean.

It's not really a bearing with ball race,
I dont know how it works but it is dry,
If anybody knows I would like to find out.

It's just a rubber insulated bush. Sometimes the rubber goes a bit lumpy which is how Oli's appears to be, hence looking like a ball race.

I can say I won't be at Ormiston with the Tourer,
eventhough it is a short journey from Redland Bay to Ormiston.

STATUS REPORT --as at 9th November 2010.
Hood to be ordered from the UK this week
Exhaust Extractors made, but need further tweeking to fit properly.
Still also need to save for exhaust system as well.
Auto Electrical, not done yet, after paying for extractors and saving for hood, need more time. Possibly in the next few weeks.
Then it is just little stuff. ( Hopefully, fingers crossed!)

I ordered my hood from the UK in mid November.
But with all the Cold weather over there,
I thought I would not recieve it until
Jan 2011, But to my surprise it has turned up today!
I have just draped it over the hood frames, as you do for the effect,
and it looks very good. I still need to get hold of a front timber rail
and to save my money to get it installed.
I also ordered a Hood Cover and a couple of extra metres of material to
cover the removeable side screens and have a bag made up to store them in.
The world wide web must be very busy today
as Tiny Pic is not wanting to co-operate so I
will place some photo's later.
Also on the down side:
It looks like the front drivers side brake slave cylinders are leaking, but strangely I still have a very firm pedal. Will need to get 1 or 2 of them
resleved.
and
Looks like the diff pinion seal is leaking too.

Hi Oliver.
Congratulations on getting your ragtop. Looks like all is going to plan for Easter?
Dont get disheartened by the leaks. Its almost like someone up there is just trying to test your patience at the end. The same happenned to me. Its better for it to happen now rather than on the way to Port. Brake fluid all over the new wheels, stripping the paint - you know where im coming from?
Cant wait to see the car
Darren
