Yesterday we finished up all the electrics on my tourer, but I noticed that when the ignition was turned on the fuel guage was reading full on an empty tank. I did not have time to investigate further, but has anybody got any clues please?

You have obvious;y gone from a +ve earth system to a -ve earth. It is a matter of reversing the polarity on the fuel guage. Simple to say maybe not so simple to do. You may need to find an arrangement to insulate the fuel guage body from the dash metalwork.

A friend suggested to reomve the tank feed wire to see if it made a differance, and to see if it is the gauge or sender.

tried that and no differance, still reads FULL when empty.....?

Oli, I suggest you have an earthing problem, I am not familiar with the electrics in lowlights, but I would remove the gauge from the dash and rehook it up hanging free under the dash and see if works ok like that. That will tell you if it is a sender or gauge problem, is your fuel tank earthed ? I will go read a manual and see If I can work out what is happening. Let me know your findings

Are the wires on the correct terminals? - have they been switched around?

check both the tank and guage
