Hi All!
I'm very confused by all the different identification numbers for Morries - can you help me please? I want to know the Month and Year of manufacture. Anything else is a bonus. Both are 4 door saloons and both should be Morris Minor 1000's.
Type: FA51
Car #: 5/529530/05446
Engine: 9M/U/H/98019
I'm guessing this is an April 1957 to Jan 1958 car probably toward the end of the period.
Type: FA51
Car #: 466799/00961
Engine: F5/25172
I'm guessing this is also an April 1957 to Jan 1958 car but probably one of the earlier types.
It would be great to know some details if anyone can shed any light on them!!!
Many thanks,
Clive

until some one comes along and deciphers the code,
to give you a pretty close idea have a look at the following parts as thay have dates stamped in them
wiper motor
regulator
fuse block
sometime the starter solenoid
starter...........unreliable as it is likely that it has been rep[laced
generator....... same as above
that s all i can think of for now, note the dates and the average is a round when the Minor was built

Thanks for that - will check them all out.
Still hoping someone can shed some light on the codes.

Thanks Frosty - I have already tried that site; it has formed part of my confusion!
If you enter FA51552953005446 you get:
[F] Morris Minor
[A] 4 Door Saloon
[5] Your 3rd character isn't found in the database for this position. Please check it and re-enter.
[1] RHD Home market
[5] Primer
Vehicle Number: 52953005446
Invalid vehicle_number pattern!
If you enter FA5146679900961 you get:
[F] Morris Minor
[A] 4 Door Saloon
[5] Your 3rd character isn't found in the database for this position. Please check it and re-enter.
[1] RHD Home market
[4] Metallic
Vehicle Number: 6679900961
Invalid vehicle_number pattern!
I'm obviously doing something incorrect. Do you know the correct way to enter the data?
Thanks again,

Clive, the numbers after the slash are local numbers, (05446 etc) and so have no bearing on the UK data site.

Car one:
F – Morris minor Car (sedan, convertible, Traveller)
A – 4 door Sedan
5 – CKD RHD
1 – Synthetic
5 - Unknown prefix (but lots of cars had either P,A,5,H5,6,7,8,9)
Engine is an early 950
so most likely a late 1956 or early 1957 Minor 1000
Car two: should be 4/66799
Which would be a 1958
engine number is wrong, it should be a 9MUH

Thank you one and all for helping me clear this up. Car 1 definitely seems to be around 1957 so that is the year I should claim to get it registered.
Car 2's engine # is definitely F5/25172 which makes it an early 948cc given that they started in the 1000's as F5/9105 according to the MMCCofNSW site.
Many thanks again!

Clive is the engine number you quoted on the ID tag or on the engine in the car?
as body number is looking 1958 not mid to late 1956
