Hi and thanks for the ad to the group.
I have recently acquired my lovely little Birdie - a 1958 2-door Morris minor 1000. I purchased her from Victoria, amd I understand she was originally a SA car. I want to try to collate as much information as I can re her history, and I’m hoping others on this forum might recognise her. The previous owner has graciously given me the information he already had on her, so I hope to add to this.
The compliance plate is as follows:
TYPE FB51
CAR NO. 6599221/0499
ENGINE # 9MUH182258
(Actual engine # 9CUH46863. - unknown when it was installed)
COLOUR. Murlong Grey/3
I believe it has had SA rego of AA196H, and UTK842, some time prior to being in the recent owner’s possession.
I am also in possession of a service book, where the earliest owner (hopefully first) was a Miss R A Williams, from “Lanes End”, Fleetwood Cres, Frankston. Rego HDL552. The booklet states the car was purchased from Lanes Motors, Frankston Branch, and delivered on 18JUN60. (Which is interesting due to it being a 1958 vehicle). I’d love to know more about who Miss Williams is/was, and a bit of research so far reveals a few Williams’ people who went to the old Frankston School, including a Head Teacher John Williams in the late 40s. I wonder.....
The car was then purchased from Miss Williams in 1967 by a Mrs Jill Allen. Further information unknown.
Was then purchased by unknown in 1990, again, other details unknown.
Finally, a name has been written in the front of the book...Rhys ? (Looks like Numans but I’m sure it isn’t...)
I would love to know if anyone has other history of this sweet little car. She is now stablemate to my 1959 MGA and my husband’s two steeds, and I’m madly in love!

Amaroo, there are a couple of really nice cars on one of the Morris Minor buy swap and sell FB sites at the moment. One in particular is just beautiful. Pricey though, but a car is worth what someone is willing to pay, right?

Is that Banks in the ACT? If so we might see you around. The Canberra club is doing well and a great source of assistance.
Cheers David

Hi David,
It sure is! So you may see me out and about, either in this little darling, or my BRG MGA. It would be good to pick a locals brain - I wasn’t going to join another club in this instance as I’ll be relocating shortly, but are you going to Wheels? I’m taking Birdie and we’ll be parked with the MG club. ( My MGA is presently getting reupholstered). Would be great to chat face to face.
Kelly

Great, What a pity you are moving. The club will be there and I plan to call in at some stage during the day. But my car is off the road right now. I will look you up.
